M1_Section 1 - Models for Understanding Yoga and Self Lecture (25.27)
"Most models are wrong. But some are useful." This is a quote that will forever live inside me! I'm a huge fan of models for understanding new material.
These models help us think about yoga differently than we are accustomed to. It seems to me that we have come to regard yoga as a system for physical health - when it is, indeed more so, a system for gaining mental/emotional stability and, even more than that, a means for liberation from our perceived reality that we are human beings having a sometimes spiritual experience - to the expansive sur-reality that we are spiritual beings having a human experience.
What has your upbringing taught you about the nature and purpose of your existence? How does yoga differ? We'll explore these questions and more in this lecture.
